I have been using an older version of kindle; was it worth it in 2025?
In this time, when amazon releasing models of kindles that contain impressive features and great quality, are older kindles worth it in 2025? The answer is quite surprising.

An older version of kindle in 2025? Such a question comes to mind when you're low on cash.
Is buying an older version of kindle like 4th gen or 5th gen or even lower worth it?
Simple answer, yes.
Why yes? Well if you're someone who wants to read books and novels then it's the best choice you can go with. I have had a great experience with a 4th gen kindle, and am still using it because there's no point in upgrading when all that I have to do is reading. You can still download dictionaries of your liking and find the definition you need. If you're not satisfied, you can download dictionaries from online in mobi format.
Its battery lasts for a whole week if I use it for a total of 2 hours per day, which surprisingly is amazing for this archaic model.
If you're buying the kindle with button functionality, don't worry about being uncomfortable. I thought it would be painful to navigate with buttons but it turns out, it's much better than a touch screen.
Drawbacks
As much as I like using my kindle I do hate a few things about it.
The image quality isn't that great. If your reading manga than buy a better model
Because kindle website isn't supported I have to manually download from books and via laptop send it to my kindle
Not all features are available, you're limited to certain features and customization. You can't have your own fonts but use only three provided fonts.
browsers works (only when you search a definition, but websites never open)
You can’t use it at night without an external light (like phone touch) which can be a bit of headache.
If you're like me, who's a casual reader and doesn't want my eyes to tingle from reading on mobile. Yeah go with it, if you can get it for cheap. Even if you get a 2nd gen model. I say, take it.
Just get a transfer cable, plug it in your laptop or desktop and download books and send them to kindle, enjoy reading.
